Hulk Hogan was wrestling royalty.
Born in Terry Jean Bolia, Hogan was the WWF superstar in the 1980s and the early 1990s, then experienced a career revival at WCW’s New World Order Stable with his Hollywood Hogan personality in the late 90s.
With his passing on Thursday morning at 71, many of the biggest names in professional wrestling paid tribute.
“I am absolutely surprised to hear about my close friend @hulkhogan being passed!” WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair wrote on X (East Twitter). “Hulk is from my side ever since we started in wrestling business. An incredible athlete, talent, friend, and father! Our friendship means the world for me. He was always for me when I didn’t ask him. … Light, no one will compare with you ever!
WWE Hall of Fame wrestler and current Chief Material Officer Triple H wrote on X that the organization “will not be where it is without the biggest characters of today who compete in the ring … and some, if any, if any, if any, Terry ‘Hulk Hogan’ is larger than Bolia.”
Triple H wrote, “Hulk Hogan, in red and yellow or (New World Order) Clade in Black and White, was simply put, reputed,” Triple H wrote. “As a leader of a real American or the largest groups in the industry, he did not see the entire business to heights and ever brought to heights in every country and in every continent. There was no one like a light and can never be very well.”
The Famel Hall of Fame Wrestler Kane, also known as the NOOM County, Tenne, said in a statement, Mayor Glenn Jacobs said, “Lactster was integral to making professional wrestling, and especially WWE, what is it today. While I am also grateful for my loss to connect with fans around the world, which is also grateful for many people for me.
Another politician who is in the WWE Hall of Fame paid his honor to Hogan on Truth Social.
“We lost a great friend today, ‘Lighty’,” written by President Trump, who was included in the Celebrity Wing of the Hall of Fame in 2013. “Hulk Hogan was all the way – strong, strict, smart, with the biggest heart. He gave a completely electric speech in the Republican National Convention, one of the entire week’s main attractions.
“He entertained fans from all over the world, and the cultural influence he had was on a large scale. For his wife, sky and family, we wish and love their warmth. Hulk Hogan will miss a lot!”
The Secretary of Education and former WWE President and Chief Executive Linda McMahon wrote on X: “I had the privilege of knowing and working with (Hogan) for 40 years. Hulk was a dear friend and member of our WWE family. Outside the ring and his legacy will always be remembered. He was one! He was one! His families, their families, are their friends, and all their friends.”
