Venus and Serena Williams were a very decent doubles team over the years.

Competon’s sisters won 14 big companies and three Olympic gold medals as a pair.

But it turns out that the elder sister was being kept back by her younger brother -in -law – at least Venus Williams jokingly won her first match with the new doubles partner Haley Baptist during the first round of DC Open.

“I think, from the first point, I could see that we were going to be a good team,” Williams said during his on-court interview after a 6–1 win against the American pair’s 6-3, Uzney Boucher and Clove Nagaonou. “We should have started playing just before, year ago, okay? I think Serena was just on the way.”

After a crowd of about 3,000 capacity with laughter in Quip, Williams smile and waved on the camera: “Sorry, Serena.”

45 -year -old Williams had every right to be a gidi after a successful return in the court after a 16 -month gap, during which he had a medical procedure to remove the fibroid from his uterus in July last July.

“It’s good only to be able to play,” Williams said during his postmatch news conference with the baptist. “Where I am in this year, it is very different compared to the previous year. It is night and day, capable of staying here and a year ago for the tournament a year ago prepared as opposition to the preparation of surgery.”

He said: “Tennis is a game. This is our life. It is literally our passion. … But at the end of the day, it really does not matter whether your health is not. So it definitely put it in the perspective and perhaps it was easy to decide that perhaps come back here and probably play free.”

Williams’s return is still beginning. Seven -time prominent winners and a one -time Olympic gold medalist faced the Piton Stings of the United States in the first round of the women’s solo tournament at PDT at 4:30 pm on Tuesday.

At the end of this week, Williams and Baptist will face the winner of Tuesday’s match on the Women’s doubles quarterfinals between Christina Bakx/Nicole Melichcher-Martinage and Taylor Townsend/Shui Zhang.

As Serena Williams, the 23 -bar major single champion has not played since the 2022 US Open “to grow away from tennis”, where he and the Venus doubles lost in the first round and proceeded in the third round in the singles before losing to Australian Ajla Tomaljanovic in their final match.

Venus Williams spoke to reporters on Sunday about his sister, “I say to my team: the only thing that makes it better if she was here,” Venus Williams spoke to reporters on Sunday about her sister. “Like, we always did everything together, so I definitely miss him.”
